Clayton Cocktail Lounge Dedicates Room to Local Legend

CLAYTON, N.C.  — Revival 1869 — A Drinkery will be holding a special dedication ceremony for their new Ava Gardner room at 6:00PM on Thursday, April 19th. Ava is a Johnston County native and Hollywood legend, still considered one of the most popular actresses of all time.

Revival will be serving-up Ava-inspired cocktails, as well as complimentary champagne for the dedication. Having a room dedicated to Ava in her home-county at a vintage cocktail lounge seems fitting as Ava was known for having a good time, “I wish to live to be 150 years old,” she said, “but when I die I want to have a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other”. Revival 1869 has partnered with the Ava Gardner Museum to hang both a dedication plaque card and an image of Ava in the room that will be dedicated to her.

Much like Revival’s Ava Room, it is renewed and on-going interest in Ava that keeps her legacy alive for new generations of fans to discover. For more than 30 years, the community has supported the Ava Gardner Museum. In that time, the museum has attracted more than 200,000 visitors traveling from around the world to Smithfield and the greater Johnston County area.

“Although Ava was heralded as ‘the most beautiful woman ever to work in Hollywood’, at the museum we have come to understand her legacy on a much deeper level. Her contributions to charity work for cancer research, being an early champion of civil rights, her investment in medical care for veterans, and her dedication to and love for her family is the real Ava – we would love visitors to get to know her like we do,” stated Lynell Seabold, Museum Director.

Revival 1869 - A Drinkery is a jazz-influenced, craft-cocktail whiskey lounge in the heart of downtown Clayton that recently celebrated their 1-year anniversary. It is owned jointly by Mike Stojic and Maleah Christie. Revival offers a large variety of whisky from around the world, and features exquisitely handcrafted cocktails such as the Sazerac, the Old Fashioned, and the Hemingway Daquiri – drinks made the way Ava and her contemporaries would have enjoyed them.

The April 19th event is open to the public and media is welcome. There will be a short dedication at 6:00PM. Revival 1869 is located at 222 E Main St, Clayton.
