  • Elizabeth City Holiday Celebration, Nov. 24
    The lighting of the downtown holiday lights begins at 6:00 p.m. on Main Street in front of the historic Pasquotank County Courthouse. Caroling, hot cocoa, hay/sleigh rides, cookies and more! Downtown businesses will be hosting family-friendly events as well. 

  • First Friday ArtWalk, Dec. 1
    On First Fridays, Elizabeth City’s downtown area swings into high gear from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with music, food and a chance to check out the art studios, restaurants and shops. For more details, call Elizabeth City Downtown Inc. at 252-338-4104.

  • Lighted Boat Parade, Dec. 1
    The Lighted Boat Parade will cruise along Elizabeth City’s downtown harbor beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Mariners’ Wharf. Everyone will receive glow sticks to help cheer on the parade participants. For more details, call Elizabeth City Downtown Inc. at 252-338-4104.

  • Elizabeth City State University Annual Christmas Concert, Dec. 1
    Celebrating the holiday season with a performance of Handel’s “The Messiah” is for many people a Christmas tradition, one which the Elizabeth City State University Concert Choir will perform. This free concert begins at 8:00 p.m. inside the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center, Floyd L Robinson Auditorium. Guests are encouraged to bring canned goods to benefit Food Bank of the Albemarle.

  • Appalachian Mountain Christmas, Dec. 2
    Experience what Christmas was like in the Appalachian Mountains during World War I through the retelling of a heartwarming holiday story of a little girl and her family. View the Albemarle Express miniature train, watch the Polar Express movie, make an early-20th-century ornament, enjoy carriage and pony rides and tell Santa what you want for Christmas between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Museum of the Albemarle (501 S.   • Elizabeth City Christmas Parade, Dec. 2
    Floats, fun and an appearance by Santa come together for a holiday parade down Main Street starting at 5:30 p.m. visitelizabethcity.com.

  • Benjamin House Holiday Benefit, Dec. 9
    Enjoy a fabulous cast of performers gathered together by Broadway’s Eric Michael Gillett to sign songs of the season in the My Favorite Christmas production. The show beings at 2:00 p.m. at Museum of the Albemarle (501 S. Water St.). For tickets are $25 and available at Page After Page Bookstore (111 S. Water St.); 252-335-7243.

  • Albemarle Chorale, Dec. 10
    Albemarle Chorale will be presenting their free Christmas Concert starting at 4:00 p.m.; First United Methodist Church (201 S. Road St.); 252-335-1771.

  • Ultimate Christmas Show (abridged), Dec 1-3, 8, 9
    This play will rekindle the joy, inner-child and familial dysfunction inside us all! Crazy fun!     Be entertained watching this adaptation of the classic holiday movie put on by College of the Albemarle's performing arts group.   • Jazz By Candlelight, Dec. 16

This romantic formal affair is just the right way start your holidays. Proceeds benefiting River City Community Development Corp. and tickets are $75.
