HIGHLANDS, N.C. — Old Edwards Inn and Spa is renovating its special events facility, The Farm at Old Edwards, to allow for better year-round utilization. The Barn’s slate-floored Function Terrace is being enclosed by a stunning architectural pavilion featuring rough-cut wood beams, wrought-iron chandeliers and a charming 35-foot high glass cupola. A series of 12-foot fully retractable glass panels will make up the exterior of the building (see attached artist rendering). The glass provides a panoramic view of the spectacular manicured gardens at The Farm—while allowing the Pavilion to be fully enclosed during inclement weather and still provide a feeling of openness. All of these natural elements create ideal acoustics for live entertainment, and will form the perfect photographic backdrop for weddings and special events.
The Farm Pavilion will be heated and air conditioned, and a beautiful stone fireplace will provide even more warmth and ambiance. The Pavilion is attached to The Barn and connected by a double set of massive oak doors, so the new enclosure significantly increases the heated square footage of the facility under “one roof.” The lighting in the Pavilion will consist of indirect ceiling lighting as well as wrought-iron chandeliers.
The Pavilion can accommodate 250 guests for weddings, meetings and special events—which will now be able to take place year-round. Renovations are slated for completion in April, 2011.
The pavilion is being built by Lupoli Construction of Highlands.
