EDENTON, N.C. — Opportunities abound as Edenton's 20th annual Music & Water Festival gets things rolling for the May 19-20 event, which provides visitors and residents a chance to get on the water in a boat or kayak at no cost.
Friday Sunset Paddle
Launch from Queen Anne Park at 6:30 pm and wind down with lightrefreshments. If in need of a kayak, one can be reserved by contacting 252-482-0300 or 800-775-0111 ahead of time — registration/waiver forms online at www.visitedenton.com/pdfs/2018-water-activities-reg-waiver.pdf.
Saturday in Colonial Park
10 am-7 pm:
- Artisans and food vendors to please all tastes.
- 2nd Wooden Boat Exhibit on the Lighthouse Lawn. Register to participate at visitedenton.com/pdfs/emwf-2018-wooden-boat.pdf.
- Music on the Waterfront Stage: Righteous Brothers, Feuston Brothers, Remain Anchored, Clay Willis, Kosmos, Laura Davis. Micah Simonsen and Drunken Confessions will entertain throughout the day
- Kitty Hawk Kites featuring equipment to try on and off the water for all ages and for the first time the KHK Climbing Wall for the adventurous.
- Painting the Edenton Lighthouse – 10:30, 12:30, 2:30: Beautiful whites and blues will make your canvas come to life; kids in grades 2-5 will paint the historic lighthouse on a 9x12 canvas. Sign-up at the information tent the day of the event on a first come, first serve basis sponsored by Chowan Arts Council.
- Lighthouse tours for all ages.
- Face painting with everyone’s Fav Sheila.
- Complimentary boat rides 11 am-3 pm.
- Paddle yoga for adults.
- Yoga by the Sea for children and adults.
- Craft beer, wine tastings and Edenton's own Old Hatchery Records with songs blending acoustic with synthesized sound, folk, rock, jazz and psychedelic influences.
- Sunset picture taking from the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse.
So whether you like paddling, touring, singing, dancing, watching, crafts, eating, cruising, or making memories, there is something for all ages to enjoy. Bring a lawn chair and your favorite camera.
