Bookmarks Festival to Take Place Sept. 5-8

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Bookmarks 15th Festival of Books and Authors will take place Sept. 5-8 in downtown Winston-Salem. Bookmarks’ Festival continues to be the largest annual book festival in the Carolinas. Forty-five award-winning and bestselling authors will visit Winston-Salem over the course of the four days to participate in readings, panel discussions, and book signings. Once again, the Saturday Festival will be held at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts at 251 N. Spruce Street in Winston-Salem and the immediate area around Spruce Street in downtown Winston-Salem. Most of the Festival is free and open to the public; a few select events are ticketed.

“This year is a momentous year for the Festival because we are celebrating our 15th anniversary,” said Ginger Hendricks, Executive Director of Bookmarks. “Since our inception, we have continued to grow and develop into a major book festival bringing an incredible selection of authors from across the country to Winston-Salem. Past participants have included David Baldacci, Diana Gabaldon, John Grisham, Azar Nafisi, Dav Pilkey, Colson Whitehead, and many more. We feature bestselling or award-winning authors who represent a wide range of books from fiction, nonfiction, and poetry to picture, middle grade, young adult, cookbooks, and more. Combined with 50 exhibitors, a young reader’s area, and food trucks, Bookmarks’ Festival is a remarkable opportunity for book lovers to interact with authors.”

Bookmarks will announce the full list of participating authors for the 2019 Festival of Book and Authors at the Preface Party on Thursday, July 25. Festival hotel packages are available at Brookstown Inn, a quick walk from the Festival site.
