Visit North Carolina Appoints First Dog Travel Agent

RALEIGH, N.C. — An All American dog named Mo has joined the Visit North Carolina team in the newly created position of Dog Travel Agent. Mo, who will provide expert travel advice from a canine perspective, has 39 dog years of experience in the field. She lives in Charlotte.

A tourism pioneer, Mo will deliver firsthand reports on DogTravelAgent.com, which will also feature trip ideas, an adventure generator and user-generated content. Beginning with a fall trip to the Crystal Coast, Mo will also post on Visit NC’s Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Youtube accounts to further lead travelers through the scent-laced terrain from mountains to sea.

“Visit North Carolina is thrilled to welcome Mo to our pack,” said Wit Tuttell, executive director of Visit North Carolina. “Nearly half of all dog owners now travel with their pets, and Mo will be an effective resource for finding the most welcoming hotels, campgrounds, parks and trails, breweries, restaurants, bakeries and other places that cater to tail-waggers. Our goal is to make North Carolina the first place that comes to mind for travel with dogs, and we’re confident Mo is the key to making this happen.”

Visit NC launched the search for its Dog Travel Agent on Aug. 26, National Dog Day. Mo was selected after a review of videos and written applications from more than 500 candidates.

Mo, a rescue dog, has been traveling ever since she found her forever home. On her first trip, she hiked amid the craggy peaks at Crowders Mountain State Park in Kings Mountain. Her potential as a travel influencer revealed itself on her first beach vacation: Her timid cousin Alex joined her in the waves at Oak Island only after seeing how much fun she was having.

“Hai frens!” said Mo, who travels with her younger brother. “It feels heckin amazin to be North Carolina’s first Dog Travel Agent. Me + my frens will flush out tippy tappin ideas for doggos just like us. I’m so happ I feel a zoomie comin on — do you?”
